In just a few years, the study of bioinformatics in Taiwan has moved from accepting the foreign concepts to getting publications in the international journals. Similarly, Symposium of Bioinformatics in Taiwan has also gradually shifted from inviting foreign scholars to give lectures to simultaneously having the poster presentations from Taiwan 's investigators. Not only does the symposium continue to introduce new concepts through the visiting of international scholars, but also allow foreign scholars understand Taiwan 's progress and promote the exchange.

The experiences from development of bioinformatics can help us promote the study in systems biology that emphasizes both the modeling and experiments. In this regard, this year, “ Symposium of Bioinformatics in Taiwan ” is officially renamed as the "2007 Symposium of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology in Taiwan ." The symposium will have seminars addressing systems biology and protein interaction network. In addition, workshops will also be held to provide interested persons learning needs.
